Mumbai witnessed a heartwarming moment on Monday as Janhvi Kapoor graced the special screening of her upcoming film, ‘Homebound’, wearing a very special outfit. The actress stunned everyone in a navy blue saree once worn by her late mother, the legendary Sridevi.

Fans were touched to see Janhvi carry forward her mother’s legacy in such a graceful manner.

Janhvi paired the ensemble with a black velvet blouse, a sleek bun, and elegant jewelry, including statement earrings and a choker necklace.

‘Homebound’, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, has recently earned a prestigious honor. The Film Federation of India (FFI) selected the movie as India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category.

Earlier on Monday, the team held a press conference in Mumbai. Ishaan Khatter, co-star Vishal, and director Neeraj Ghaywan spoke about the film and their journey.

Ishaan expressed his pride, saying, “This is the film I’m most proud of. Bhaut garv hai mujhe ispe. Neeraj bhai has made this movie with so much thought so that it can connect with a wider audience.”

‘Homebound’ tells the story of two childhood friends from a small North Indian village who aspire to become police officers. Their pursuit of this dream promises respect and dignity. It also tests their friendship as they face challenges and mounting pressures along the way.

The movie has already gained international recognition, having been screened at major film festivals, including the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).

Indian audiences won’t have to wait long to see ‘Homebound’ on the big screen. The film is ready for a nationwide release on September 26.
